For Immediate
Release - July 23, 2001
NEW YORK, NY -- Today, the National
Coalition Against Censorship, an alliance of 51 national organizations
committed to defending freedom of thought, inquiry, and expression,
is encouraging U.S. taxpayers to use their tax rebates to fund
the fight for free speech.
As extra incentive, donations to NCAC of tax rebates ($300 or
$600) will be matched by Working Assets through it's GiveForChange
program.
To take advantage of this opportunity to send a political message
and double the impact of your contribution visit the website
for GiveForChange, select the "Media & Freedom of Expression"
category, and then select the National Coalition Against Censorship
as the donation recipient. Donations can be made until November
1, 2001, and are tax-deductible.
"From fighting against the removal of books from school libraries
to debunking claims that popular entertainment causes violence,
the NCAC counts on its generous supporters to fund the important
work that we do," said Joan Bertin, Executive Director or the
Coalition Against Censorship. "Free speech is constantly under
attack and now donors can not only contribute to the defense of
an essential liberty but see those donations automatically doubled
thanks to Working Assets," added Bertin.
