New York, NY -- Today, the National Coalition Against Censorship
(NCAC) announced the launch of ART
NOW , an online register of artistic responses to the events
of September 11 and their political and social aftermath, as well
as a discussion forum among artists.
ART NOW tracks responses to the attacks and their aftermath from
artists, curators, writers, musicians, and filmmakers, as well
as performance spaces, museums and art-related web sites, as they
develop from documentations and memorials to critical explorations
of the present and of possible futures.
The ART NOW Discussion Forum
is hosting a conversation among artists on the ethical, political
and historical aspects of creative expression in times of crisis.
With this online forum, NCAC brings the boldness and freedom of
live dialogue to a space that crosses state and national lines
and engages people of all backgrounds in a conversation about
sensitivity and appropriateness, free expression and political
critique, the relevance of art now, and other important issues.
ART NOW is adding new information daily and is looking for work
that provides a perspective on the current state of the world
as defined by recent events in the United States, Asia, and the
Middle East.
